Honest conversations
about the mind,
rooted in empathy

Unearthing the brain, memory, identity,
and what it means to be human in the face of
degenerative brain disease.

Through curiosity, compassion, and storytelling, our mission is to better understand the human side of dementia and brain health. Behind every diagnosis is a life that embodies identity, personality, relationships, emotions, and a lifetime of stories. What follows are conversations that bridge the gap between neuroscience and lived experience. Beyond what is lost, we focus on the deeply human experience of what is lived and what remains. Socializing stories connects us all… it elevates dignity, amplifies empathy, reduces isolation, and improves prevention and outcomes.

Jamie holds a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor in Psychology, is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. What happens when we stop separating brain health from physical health? In this conversation, Denise Johnson explores the powerful connection between movement, cognition, aging, independence, and emotional wellbeing. Denise holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and has extensive training through organizations including the American College of Sports Medicine, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Functional Aging Institute. She brings a unique perspective on caring for the whole person. Passionate about psychology, neuroscience, public speaking, and community service, I am overjoyed to share empathology with you.

I’m perpetually fascinated with what makes people who they are. Drawn to the spaces where science meets story, I know that the emotional aspect of neurodegenerative conditions is overlooked.

I believe that curiosity is one of the most wonderful forms of empathy. Asking questions and allowing yourself to listen while acknowledging the depth of a story without it being your own is truly special. If anything, it is what the world needs most.

Through conversations and stories, I hope to explore the science of the brain while never losing sight of the human being at its center.

Thank you so much for following along.
