What does dementia really mean beyond the diagnosis? In this conversation, Jamie Escoubas shares more than 25 years of experience in senior living, memory care, and dementia services, exploring how aging, identity, connection, and storytelling intersect. Jamie holds a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor in Psychology, is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Together, we discuss why dementia is not a "normal" part of aging, the power of reminiscence and familiar stories, how to support caregivers, and what it means to meet people where they are.
